About me

My name is Chris Parrish. I live in Augusta, Georgia with my wife, Deanna, and daughter Emma Kate. I like to describe myself as person who never stops learning. I enjoy learning new systems and the challenge of taking on new challenges. I always look objectively at my work not only critiquing myself, but searching for the critique and wisdom of others that will help me grow as an individual.

I have been a member of Dayspring Church for eight years, and currently work within the Media Department. My responsibilities include maintaining audio/visual systems, operating sound and lighting for Sunday services, and producing video/graphics for the sermon series and other media needs. I have also been through the training process of becoming a deacon. In 2007, I graduated with a degree in audio technology from SAE Institute of Technology in Nashville, Tennessee.  After graduating I began working with News 12 as a production assistant. My responsibilities included editing video, operating cameras, and operating sound for live newscasts.  In late 2008 I recieved a promotion and began directing live newscasts, and shortly thereafter, I was once again promoted to News Promotions Producer. As a promotions producer I am responsible for creating commercial spots for television and web use that promote the newscasts and station in an innovative and creative manner. This level of responsibility requires that I carefully plan and organize projects from start to finish to ensure that they are completed their deadlines.

At the beginning of 2011, the news station upgraded their systems to accomodate high definition content. My responsibilities were expanded to include directing the nightly 11pm newscast, as well as a leading role in design and implementation of the stations new 3D graphics system.

My Experience

I believe that my experience in television as well as production would be beneficial to your organization.  I have a history of being self-sufficient, and learning new techniques at a fast pace in order to produce fresh content throughout my career in television.  I have worked in production at the professional level primarily in the live sound industry.  I apprenticed with Sammy Hagar during his 2006 national tour and went to work for Clair Brothers Audio, the largest sound company in the world, before attending SAE Institute of Technology.  Over the past 6 years I have worked for Wild Wing CafĂ© operating sound for the bands that perform there.

Over the past four years I have worked exclusively within Final Cut Pro. I have produced many projects ranging from 10-30 second promotional spots to half-hour news documentaries. In the fall of 2010 I took part in the production of a news documentary which won Regional and National Edward R. Murrow Awards, and was also nominated for a Regional Emmy Award. My responsibilities in this project were editing, camera direction, and graphic design under the leadership of the News Director as well as the reporter.
